Hello! I'm a day late, but nonetheless, I have exciting news. Two of my artworks have been selected for exhibition in the Boomer Gallery near the Tower Bridge in London. We have been working hard to enter work in as many online applications as possible (where it seemed appropriate, of course) and I must admit I was not expecting my first to be accepted overseas. If I had the means to catch a plane and join the other artists for the champagne and caviar, I absolutely would, but with neither the time nor the money, I will enjoy the experience from afar. At the moment, there is no media for me to share of the exhibition itself, but I will share pictures and links as they are made available.
Now that I have learned a bit more about myself and my mental health, I can answer my "why do you do it?" with more confidence. Over the years, I've known I have different styles and conflicting philosophies regarding art. Now that I can see that my inconsistencies are not from weakness, but necessity. I make art to learn about myself and to show the world that wholeness is possible without perfect agreeance. The realistic painter is worthy, the abstract artist is worthy, and the cubist is worthy. The hard lines and the soft edges can be enriching in spite of (and because of) their difference. My inner differences set the stage for a conversation about what good and bad come out of division and disagreement.
